Richard Sorrell | IT Manager
Why did you choose a career path in senior healthcare?
Growing up, I couldn’t decide if I wanted to be an IT nerd or a teacher. I went the IT nerd route and was able to succeed in my mission of finding a career that allowed me to perform IT duties and serve the needs of my community.
Name your best work moment.
My favorite work moment was winning Values at Work Employee of the Year. Earning the respect and gratitude from your peers and being recognized for it is a feeling I will never forget.
What do you look most forward to at work?
It is never boring. Every day presents new challenges. Nothing is repetitive. Most days, I can leave knowing that my team left the place in better shape than it was when we came in that morning. We strive to do better, and there is always room to improve. This is a very motivating challenge.
Name some of you favorite things to do outside of work.
Unsurprisingly, my favorite hobby is computers. I love to build computers and fix issues for friends and family. I also am a big fan of computer gaming. I have many friends from all around the world that I love to spend time with in the virtual worlds of our favorite games. I am also a big fan of space flight and exploration. I try to watch as much coverage of rocket launches as I can. Seeing a launch in person is still on my bucket list.
