Our TeamNikki Case
After Sept 11th, the company where I worked shut down and I needed a stable career to take care of my family. I started as an STNA while in nursing school when we were still the Carriage Inn of Cadiz. Once I decided to go back to school to be an administrator, I knew I wanted to return to where I started.
During my health care career, I have only worked in long term care or hospice. One time I was at a hospice patient’s home, giving him a bath. I’m talking away, telling what I am doing and chit chatting. His wife leans over to me and says, “Honey, he is deaf. He can’t hear a thing.” I chuckled and said, “That’s ok; I think his spirit can hear me.”
With the healthcare industry in such a disarray and everything going on in the world, I want to build a culture where our employees come to work feeling valued and appreciated. I also want to help them remember why they came or stayed in healthcare: to help people.
My husband and I have two hobbies: gardening and riding motorcycles. Every winter, I can’t wait to get back to them in the spring/summer.
